Lending Where Banks Fear to Tread

Vincent Ryan, Deputy Editor of CFO Magazine, recently interviewed Jeff Pfeffer for an article discussing non-bank lenders and the middle market. The articles states “Now that lending to corporations is back in vogue, nonbank capital providers are again underwriting loans that banks can’t or won’t.” In taking a look at who private capital providers are lending to, Jeff remarked, “PE- or venture capital-owned companies are our primary focus because they have dedicated capital below us in the capital structure,” says Pfeffer. “They have money at risk and a defined investment period.”
